City Hall

Opened in 1992, Edmonton's City Hall combines modern architecture with elements from the old City Hall it replaced (built in the '50s). Features include a glass pyramid top as well as a soaring friendship tower that has a 40,000-pound, 23-bell carillon that can play up to 99 melodies. An expansive collection of art by Alberta artists is on display, and visitors are welcome at the many activities held here. Enjoy a dip in the wading pool on a hot summer day, or go skating during the winter. Public areas open weekdays 7 am - 10 pm, Sat 9 am - 5 pm, Sun & holidays 11 am - 5 pm. Admission is free. For group tours, call 496-8251.
