Gorgeous Glassworks
The finest in Canadian art glass comes to downtown’s West End Gallery July 1 through September 30. The 12th annual Canadian Glass Show features talented B.C. glass artists Tammy Hudgeon, Jonathan Mossop, Lisa Samphire and Robert Held, as well as such Canadian glass artists as June Pham, Don MacLennan, David Thai, Tara Marsh, Eva Milinkovic, Kirston Gene, Susan Rankin and Jeff Holmwood. This always anticipated show presents the newest in contemporary glass work created by these innovative artists. The largest glass show in Canada, it’s a must-see on your summer calendar.

Wright on!
Iconic B.C. artist Jimmy Wright comes to Sidney’s Main Street Gallery, near the water in the Sidney Pier Hotel. Wright’s first solo show in six years, some 18 new works are expected. “Wright’s compelling subject materials, with his trademark white polar bears and eclectic surface decoration, is unique in its duplicity; it conveys both sophistication and a naivety,” the gallery notes. “His work always provokes conversation and an immediate appreciation for its unique vision and physical application of unorthodox material.”

Stinking Fish
Art lovers will want to ensure the Stinking Fish Studio Tour is on their summer to-do list . Held July 26 to August 4, the annual tour features 24 artists working in everything from glass and pottery to printmaking and fabric. The tour, covering the Metchosin and East Sooke areas, is open from 10am to 4pm daily.
